Six barrel seduction is a good local band that plays hard rock with just a touch of jazz thanks to their bassist background in jazz. They are headlining the Texas Tech Rugby Party at New town this Thursday November 29, 2007. Some info on the party that you might be interested in is that it is All the Beer and Trashcan Punch you can drink. There are two live bands playing outside SIX BARREL SEDUCTION and the well-known country band, THE JOSH ABBOT BAND. The cover is $10 for guys and ladies are free. Cover pays for you to drink all night. 18 to enter 21 to drink and the party starts at 10pm.

Cricket’s also has a great band that plays every Wednesday night called Plain Brown Wrapper. They play all the songs you love to rock out to in a bar. They go on around 10:30 and there is no cover. A few other places to check out on your own might be Rocky LaRue’s that’s located on the main drag on Broadway and well as Blue Light, which is a 21 and up only bar in the depot that has live music all the time.

That's all for this week folks! Check out the podcast called "Local Music Scene" at the top right of the page. Thanks and God bless.

Local Art Scene

Hey guys, welcome back! This week my podcast gives some information on the local art scene here in Lubbock. There are a few specific events or exhibits that I shed some light on. The first one is the First Friday Art Trail. The monthly First Friday Art Trail showcases art and artists in Lubbock, much of which is created locally in the unique and inspiring galleries, studios, businesses and restaurants downtown and throughout our city. Next month’s event will be on December 7. Another event is the 29th Annual Lubbock Arts Festival will be held April 19 - 22, 2007 at the Lubbock Memorial Civic Center. The Festival is a multi-arts, multi-event celebration including Visual Arts, Performing Arts, and Children's Arts. Finally, the Texas Tech School of Art offers a variety of art exhibits that I discuss in the podcast, most of them are free, especially if you are a Tech student.
